If there is god
In this she shapes
A humble kindness
A small brown box reveals these gifts
One large moist spicy pumpkin loaf
Heavy like honey with generosity
An old slim book of poetry
In each word upon the page a mans longing
And new to me
A card sacred for such touching humility
These gifts sent to a woman never met
Who writes her secrets on a disappearing page
Perhaps to never know if they are understood
Light sent into a void and answered like a prayer
And yet here is proof: a loaf, a book of poetry, a card

Oh my God, this made me weep... so beautiful,so generous!
ReplyDeleteFran, I'm so happy to see you today. And thank you for the response to this. It's a quick first draft, as are most of my poems.
ReplyDeleteI hope your Easter is lovely.
Beautiful imagery, savage one.
ReplyDeleteOh. I like this.... (And I think I get it!! I usually don't get poetry... I'm dense that way...) Very nice... and generous...
ReplyDeleteI love this. It's beautiful, my friend. Your way with words is a gift to us all.

ReplyDelete"Happy Easter Utah"
ReplyDeleteBeautiful poetry - soft and simple, yet powerful and profound. Only YOU can write of such promise, only you.......
Love Gail
peace................
Happy Easter, Utah - that was just what I needed to read. You deserve every kindness that comes your way.
ReplyDeletePoetry usually escapes me, but I got this (I think).
ReplyDeleteI hope that someone is lucky enought to nibble on your (chocolate) ears today, Utah.
Regards,
Tengrain
lovely...
ReplyDeleteDivine moments are not often grand celestial displays to light up the sky, often they are a simple word, a gesture, a human connection coming from unexpected places.
ReplyDeleteThank you for filling the void with light.
I'm very impressed. Good job.
ReplyDeleteGood stuff.
