The Deck, The Porch, The Great Outdoors and Other Distractions
This is a distraction so we can talk of anything. So, time to speak up, make your indecent proposals, talk politics or books, or general complaining. knock yourself out.

Just came by to say hello. I did enough waxing on my own blog and I did not have that much to begin with yesterday/today.
I so love these photos, I feel so invited in to a very special place.
Having never been to Utah I have some images that clearly are not correct.
(I did once have a stopover at the airport, but that hardly counts!)
Seeing your home, nature, your dogs - it is all very restorative to my soul.
Thank you.
Well, I went camping, not seeing the news and other people for four days puts me in a better frame of mind.
Not much better, but a little.
{Wave - Wave} Passing by, Utah!
Weeeeee!
I call this "Wildly Gesticulating Since I Ain't Got Nothing Else" Monday.
I don't even really have any smiting to do. Appears I did that already.
C'est la vie.
bbc has the right idea. It's amazing just how much better one feels - well, technically speaking, exchanging the soul-draining forms of melancholy and ennui for those of the simply soul-munching variety - when one disconnects from the tube, the news, the world.
Let yourself be engulfed in something creative or hell, merely static, instead of destructive.
Smiting is such a great word, so much gravitas. Holy hell, it's after noon already.
i don't know why there are 2x4s tracing the outline of your concrete stairs along the outside wall...
It's a good question. I don't know either. You have a great eye for detail.
Randal has gone off to smite someone.
I thought that work was a distraction from the great outdoors? Hope your headache is better.
Diva, I did get that backwards didn't I?
As long as you are not smiting things with Randal, then all is well.
Are you really collecting short stories?
Yeah Dive, got a murdering woman short story you'd like to contribute? Only, even though the name belongs to you, for the sake of our relationship we can't have to Judith Blue stories. So give your husband or lover murdering self another name. Got some fiction that's just itching to be written? Join in the fun. I am taking submissions. Until we have a better way of collecting them, submissions can be emailed to me at Heddaspam@gmail.com.
Utah, I would never, ever used Judith Blue. That belongs to you.
And, yes, I probably have a few murder the ex husband stories floating about.
Diva. Can't wait. For now we are using my heddaspam@gmail.com for the story repository. Dcup is setting up a blog with security password, so then we will move them to the blog for editing and selection. Start your engines, ladies.
I don't have an ex, nor do I have anything but love in my heart, so there shall be no smiting. Except for that. And that guy. And her. And him. And all of you. No, you. Yes, you.
Randal, what do you think about my proposal that the female bloggers get together and write a collection of stories of, well, smiting, murderous women? It's our way of smiting, while we do no harm. We are mostly of the mental smiting sort. It's you men who do most of the murdering in real life. So we just fantasize about it.
careful with your smiting, Randal, or you may become the subject of someone's murderous short story.
Ghost, it's taken several days, but I beginning to catch up. This, I think, is the reason for the little strip of 2x4s along the wall--going up the steps. When I was eyeing the junk filled garage and thinking of turning it into a living space, there was no wall by the steps. That wall is the wast facing wall of the greenhouse/bathroom area. It required a great deal of work and expense to level the slope leading to the garage--the concrete steps and door were the yard side entrance to the garage. Nothing on either side of those steps and they were crumbling a bit. I wanted a deck on the other side of the steps and the slab for the gh/br was lower than the garage which required steps in the house from the main room down into the gh/br. Steps can make or break you, you know? I am still, some twenty years later still struggling with the step problem. I'm wanting a lovely blend of form and function. No money to beautify and so not inspiration to make more functional.
