Holy Crap!!!

It was during the Clinton years that I did well enough to invest in the stock market. Within the first year of the Bush administration I lost 1/3 of my investment. I pulled my remaining money out of the market and put it in savings. Seven years later I have no savings and am struggling month to month to pay the utilities and feed myself. Every year since '06, I've been having to make payments on my property taxes instead of paying them all at once. Insurance for my home and car are automatically deducted from my checking account, but I've been thinking I won't be able to keep paying auto insurance for long. I'm your average older American. I've lived through good times and bad. But I've never seen anything like this. And I'm scared.

Merrill Lynch goes belly up? Lehman Brothers files for chapter 11? And John McCain says, "The fundamentals of the economy are sound?" Holy crap!!! And still the polls say the race is tightening? Holy crap!!!

The fecal matter is indeed hitting the fan economically. The sad thing is this mess is one we can pin on both parties -- the Republicans pushed banking deregulation in the 1990s, and Clinton went along.

Let's not ignore McCain's position of the war in Iraq, nor his bomb, bomb, bomb Iran flatfooted impression of the Beach boys, Barbara Ann. Do we not understand that he WILL bomb Iran and we WILL have a draft, and if we want to pay for another war, we WILL have to ALL PAY MORE to finance it. How damn dumb are we???

Anyone getting into the stock market deserves to lose their ass because they are just a part of that greed that it is. Just saying.

I didn't get rich, but I'm not in trouble and I don't owe the world more than a few hundred bucks.

If the polls are correct, McCain is getting ready to surge into the presidency. If the polls are correct, we will deserve it.

Don't worry, the free market will take care of everything. Just pull yourself up by your bootstraps and enjoy the rising tide lifting all boats.

I will grant that the Republicans have been greedy and short-sighted, but they don't have a monopoly on it. The stage was set in the 90s when banking was de-regulated with repeal of the Glass-Steagall Act -- and Bubba was in the White House then. Progressive Historians has a good piece on Clinton's role in the mortgage mess at http://www.progressivehistorians.com/2007/11/bill-clintons-role-in-mortgage-crisis.html

I despise the Rethugs, especially when they want to blame Bubba for everything, but in this particular case he really did screw up.

Clinton is the guy that deregulated the Financial markets people..you can rip on the Rethugs all you want, but it was Billy Clinton that started the ball rolling to where it is today with regards to the banks, investment houses and all that shit.

As a liberal I say this: Billy Clinton was the best Democratic President the Rethugs ever had in office.

Well his sexual antics do fit right into the republican model for mad behavior of a sexual nature.
