What I really don't get is why even the most progressive bloggers talk about how they're so "disappointed" since he's "not the John McCain he used to be" (and they're not talking about what he did as a POW). Ultimately, in the days of Limbaugh, Gingrich, and Cheney, McCain was the one major figure on the right who was willing to at least speak in a civil tone to those "across the aisle." The trouble is that he only did so to sell his snake oil, and, still, no one wants to admit that's what it was, and thus the endless choruses of "You've Changed" (with apologies to Billie Holiday)....
I am a self-published writer of short stories, poetry, and politics. I'm a rescuer of dogs and stray cats. I believe everything is political—especially sex and religion.

Yoga, you are so right. Thanks for the great comment. Love the Billie Holiday reference. I'm a hopeful cynic. I hope it's over for McCain.
