Teddy Died

Statement from The Kennedy Family

August 26, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

“Edward M. Kennedy – the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply – died late Tuesday night at home in Hyannis Port. We’ve lost the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives, but the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever. We thank everyone who gave him care and support over this last year, and everyone who stood with him for so many years in his tireless march for progress toward justice, fairness and opportunity for all. He loved this country and devoted his life to serving it. He always believed that our best days were still ahead, but it’s hard to imagine any of them without him.”

I am devastatingly heartbroken. We have to champion his cause of better and affordable health care for ALL..as it should be!

Utah...
Shame on the sun today, for shinning.

The picture at the top of your post..... I don't know why....perhaps because they are now all gone...brings tears...is heartbreaking... Devastating....

Hope you are well...

It is now up to us to continue his fight and get a truly universal national health care bill passed now, in his name and in his memory. It was the cause of his life.

it's a very sad day for those that care about justice and compassion.

Sherry the picture is yours for the taking. I've never been shy about taking things I like from you.

I can't stop weeping. I feel time leaking away.

Thanks, Utah! My heart goes out to you and all of us, really, for our country/community's loss.

I'd like to second Jack Jodell.

This should be a first priority when the Congress returns.

Take names and run the rascals out of town who continue to lie about the public option and the need for health care finance reform.

And your picture . . . .

It is now up to us to continue his fight and get a truly universal national health care bill passed now, in his name and in his memory. It was the cause of his life.

I wrote a post and then a long comment at Mad Mike's, and am out of words. Our generation is gone and I cannot express my sadness. In my mind, I can only think, "Camelot is gone."

It is very sad and I too feel the passing of an era. As VP Biden said, paraphrasing Shakespeare, "I don't think we shall ever see his like again."

Pardon my return. Giggles, Jack, and Suzan have spoken what's in my heart.

That photo, Utah, haunts me and makes me remember a different America. I should thank you because that picture makes me think that there is a possibility that someday great souls will come again to renew the damage suffered by America and all nations from avarice and dismissal of the good of all people.

Stella, I'm so glad you came back. It is time to pass the torch and hope we taught our children well. Obama was elected primarily because of a younger generation.

There is a new kind of revolution and smart, fast talking, tech savvy, thirty somethings are going to make things better, smarter, sexier, classier, more fun, less exclusive, freer. Yes they can. And I'm all for it.

But for you and me Teddy's death is the end of an era and a certain kind of chic. Like all chic, it will come around again. Like that picture of the tree brothers, white tie and tails will make a reappearance. They will pass a healthcare bill with a public option. They are aware that a friend or family member who has cancer might lose insurance and would forever after be uninsurable.

How could I leave your wonderful writing & a wonderful person with a divine muse? My disappearance was due to a lethal work schedule that is now over. Not you. But that's another story.

Utah, the irony has not escaped my notice. Who will carry the torch now? I have hope that Dr. Jill Biden, Vice President Joe Biden's wife, will be at least part of the solution. She established seven schools and three breast cancer centers in Delaware. I hope the Blue Dogs and ultra-cons don't get in her way and complain that they didn't elect her like they did with Hillary.

The day passed like drying cement.
