I've been writing letters to the DNC and specific Senator's and members of the House over the past primary season. So I am on many lists of suckers to go to for a signature on a petition or to ask for money. This was what I received in my first email of the day, yesterday. It was the first thing I did. I signed this petition, and then went about my business of working in the garden, but I will copy it here and hope you take your own action. it is probably too lay, but maybe not. It's never too late to speak out. In my own email attached to this petition I expressed my outrage at Speaker Pelosi for her cowardice in taking impeachment off the table in order to get the approval of enough Republicans to become Speaker of the House. Please take your own kind of action.
Dear Concerned Citizen,
Our effort to hold the Bush/Cheney Administration accountable has taken another dramatic step forward. Last night, Congressman Dennis Kucinich introduced the first Articles of Impeachment ever to be introduced against President Bush. It includes, in total, thirty-five Articles detailing this Administration's blatant abuse of power. Today, I enthusiastically co-sponsored this vitally important bill.
I am grateful for Dennis' leadership on this issue and for the steadfast support that countless Americans have given to both of our efforts to redeem our government and expose the crimes of Bush and Cheney.
I will now expand my efforts to secure impeachment hearings in the Judiciary Committee for these new Articles of Impeachment against President George W. Bush.
Many of the charges against President Bush are well known – and would shock the conscience of everyday Americans if only the national media would be willing to report on these stark facts.
The Articles present a stunning narrative of offenses that have go well beyond previous crimes committed by any US chief executive. In fact no President or Vice President in history has done more to undermine our constitution.
These charges are broad, with 35 separate allegations including the deliberate lies regarding WMDs that led us to war and the approval of illegal wiretapping of American citizens. The Articles also include new allegations of high crimes – including the explicit approval for high Administration officials to violate treaties and US law banning the use of torture.
The Democratic Party gained a majority in the House and Senate due in large part to our promises to end the corruption of the Republican majority and to hold the Administration accountable to the law. This courageous bill is a crucial step towards fulfilling this promise, but – like the Articles against Cheney – they require your support to convince Democrats and open-minded Republicans to support this bold but necessary action.
Time is running out so we must work together to spread the message and apply pressure.
First, please encourage your friends and family members to sign up at WexlerWantsHearings.com – as it will allow us to keep in touch with you and speak to a wider audience. If you haven't yet put in your phone and address, please sign up again, as we will be doing telephone town halls in the near future.
Second, call your representative and urge them to support Impeachment hearings.
Finally, contact newspapers, news stations, and your favorite bloggers and urge them to report on this movement. We need to keep Impeachment a significant news story until the Democratic leadership sees the value in it.
McClellan Agrees to Testify:
I was pleased to inform you yesterday that Judiciary Committee Chairman Conyers met my call to have Former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan testify under oath. I am thrilled to inform you that McClellan has agreed to testify on June 20th at 10AM. This will be the first step in what we hope will be ongoing and deepening examinations of the stark evidence and charges against both President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
Thank you for your continued passion and advocacy. Your support means so much to me.
Sincerely,
Congressman Robert Wexler

A justified but, I fear, unnecessary procedure -- impeachment. They would be out of office by the time all of the paperwork was done. Although perhaps, if successful, it would result in withholding taxpayer (retirement and other perks) payments to them after they leave.
Kucinich and Nader are still pushing for this though; maybe they know something more of the possible results than I do, however.
I'm definitely pro-impeachment. Sure, they'll be out of office, but we've said twice before with Nixon (yeah, I know he quit - fucker should have been jailed) and Reagan that high crimes are just peachy. Just once I'd like to hold thugs accountable.
And I certainly don't buy the whole "it'll cost us the election!" Oh really? So the impeachment of Clinton prevented Gore (who did run a shit campaign) from getting more votes that Chimpy? We all know that fucker was stolen.
Kill one, you're a murderer.
Kill many, you're a conqueror.
Kill them all, you're a god.
Duke Cunningham is in the big house. The architects of treason never will be. The constitution is, apparently after all, just a piece of paper.
Petition link. Please sign and speak out.
Dennis Kucinich—clips of his impeachment statements presented to the House.
There are 35 articles of impeachment presented by Kucinich at the House. If Chimpy and Darth are impeached, randal, the proceedings open the door for potential criminal hearings. Even if they're out of office, they can be tried as private citizens.
I don't think it will cost us the election, either. As Lenin said, "One death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic."

Stella, thanks for the update and the link. Your skills are greatly appreciated.
Stella, thanks for providing the link. I've signed the petition. And yes, these criminals must be held accountable.
Great post, Utah!
The ongoing pondering of whether or not impeachment is worthwhile or expedient is just the sound of Nero fiddling, while Rome burns... to me anyway.
More importantly - Bush and Cheney and Co. need to be brought to justice.
Also check out this link - she commented on my Bush post this morning.
I have been and will continue to reach out to my so-called representatives as well as those in power like Pelosi and Reid.
Thanks for the call to arms.
Thank you Divajood and Fran.
Done and done.
Thanks Dcup!
Ever since I installed Skype, it's been so easy to click and call those muthahs.
I have Pelosi and Reid's office numbers in my contacts list! Poor bastards.
Care to share UC?
It was 232 years ago today that the Continental Congress told five people to write a declaration of independence from Great Britain and King George III. I wish the current Congress had just 1/10 of the backbone of those forefathers and then we could get rid of our own King George!
Another one of those times I wish I was American !
We're glad to have you rooting for us Naj.
Utah - you need a broadband connection to use Skyp as a phone or webcam conferencing platform. Go to http://skype.com/download/skype/windows/ for details
I don't feel impeachment is unnecessary: taking such action against B&C will set a legal precedent for them when they become private citizens.
Even if we can't complete the process, there are other legal avenues we can pursue to continue reviewing the 35 articles that Kucinich presented today and Wexler supported.
I would be happy to know that, at least, my taxes would be withheld from their retirement, secret service protection, and other standard perks.
Also, impeachment proceedings would keep them busy so we don't have an October Surprise. Those two can do a lot of damage in the next 222 days. It's critical that Americans speak up.
Even if starting impeachment proceedings are too late, we must let our senators and representatives know that we will no longer tolerate the behavior and disregard for, not only Americans, but the entire world.
Sorry, to get your goat man (tee hee), but there are several reasons to enact impeachment proceedings—not merely to remove them from office, but to let our voices be heard.
Impeachment? I would have been happy if the Democrats had had the balls to cut off the funding for this stupid war. I mean, that's why we elected them in '06, no? Hi Utah!
I signed the petition and why the hell aren't we hearing more about this in the media?!?
oh wait, don't tell me, I already know...because they are ball-less MFers.....
I happened to stumble upon [the reading of the impeachment bill] while channel surfing, and I had to groan. Didn't he introduce this bill quite a while ago, and it quietly went no where? And just reading it into the record doesn't mean the actual impeachment process has started, or does it?
I've been a huge fan of Dennis' for a long time, but I find the timing of this to be nothing but political grandstanding. Why didn't he do this a month or so after his Bill got squashed? The very first thought that entered my mind when I heard of Dennis' actions, was, "A deal has been cut with Democrats to pardon him." If Bush ever decided to tell the truth - let me rephrase that. If anybody ever taught Bush to tell the truth, we would see so many Democrats go to prison with him, that a congressional quorum could be had! It's a wonderful dream....it's just not going to happen. It's going to take some brave American and one bullet.......
I would love for the history books to have to stain him. Otherwise, they may just spin him as brave and noble in his efforts. Um, gag.
I'm with ya, K! Even the attempt to reveal his and Cheney's endless list of illegalities and lies would hearten me.
