More of the Delicious Economist Paul Krugman

My favorite economist, the hunky Nobel Prize winner, Paul Krugman takes on BillO on BillO's own turf.

"One of only a few modern Economists that ever made sense to me. Not only a great theorist, but a wonderful teacher as well.

Bravo"

i've plagiarized this guy more over the last several years than anybody else..... truly one of my personal favorites.... he gets it right and the Republicans hate his guts.

I have a theory that he will be the next Sec of Treasury. I'm in love with Paul Krugman. I can't get enough Paul Krugman. I'll be posting Krugman pieces until I die. And now I know I'm right because Ghost told me so.

Maybe Fed Chairman. Yeah, Fed Chairman, Paul Krugman.

well it's one of those things where i've been told so long that i'm screwed-up because i agree with Paul Krugman.... you're right about the uncle milty friedman economists that have dominated the airwaves and the hall of policy and law for what.... 2-3 decades now?

laissez-faire.... hayek..... mixed with a little objectivism and Ayn Rand.... i think it is proto-fascist.....

Utah Savage said...

Not only proto-fascist, but juvenile. Yeah, I too read Ayn Rand when I was sixteen, but by the time I was eighteen I understood how narcissistic and immature the Rand credo was. It was bunk and anybody capable of critical thinking figured it out. Me first and fuck the rest of you? Not so much a way to govern as a way to destroy democracy. What do we do with the old and disabled? Put them in camps? I feel a rant coming on.

I have a vague memory of reading Ayn Rand's books back in my wayward youth, too, and wondering later why some people got so worked up about them.

I'd love to see Krugman as Secretary of the Treasury, but don't think it'll ever happen. Or if it does his tenure will be as short and as unhappy as Robert Reich's was as Secretary of Labor under Clinton. I like Obama for a lot of reasons, but am enough of a realist to recognize he's drunk a lot of the Wall Street kool-aid. He's much more likely to put Rubin back in that post despite the damage he did the first time around.

that's a good point Nan....... we've heard so much from the Republicans about how "leftist" the Democrats are, that sometimes people begin believing it.

the Clinton administration represented what i consider to be the "Republican" wing of the Democratic Party.

Clinton went along with massive-deregulation with the Republicans, supported NAFTA...... in other words he did drink that "free-market-globalist" kool aide that has poisoned our economy.

Obama, in my estimation, will be a centrist, and possibly center-right. the massive economic failure is going to make for a ripe mood for regulation and if they do it right, the taxpayers will get profit back when everything stabilizes......

but how far will he really go to reign-in the culture of greed that has dominated America for 2-3 decades?

as Utah said..... the Milton Friedman brand of economic philosophy has long displaced the more balanced and pragmatic Keynesianism of the past....... i think we need a shot of Keynes.

Yeah, I like Krugman too, but the adjectives "hunky" and "delicious" never came to my mind when watching him. Brilliant, maybe, and very knowledgable and astute in matters of the "dismal science of Economics," but "hunky?" He'll have to take off his shirt for me to check that out.

He has very sexy eyes. He might be a bit soft around the waist line, but I like my middle aged guys big shouldered and a little padded. But he's definitely got it all in those sweet, smart eyes. Nice mouth too. And good hair.

I have to laugh when I hear or read how Obama is so leftist. Center right of left maybe. But he is tons better than McCain so there you go. I like read Krugman's books. They are always on the best sellers list and he always points out the crap that republicans try to sell us. He well deserves his prize in my opinion.

I love Krugman because he writes about economics in a way that I can understand. He doesn't even have to draw pictures!

I agree Krugman is a hunk, but then I'm a sucker for a guy with brains.

DK, you must be feeling better.

Yes UT, I felt good enough to post a little today. At this point, it is a pretty much a psych game. Thanks for checking on me.
