I say, 'FUCK AIG! WE OWN AIG! AIG has been nationalized. Since we own it now, we should sell off or shit can the problem parts and revive what can be saved and never, NEVER, NEVER allow another entity to become TOO BLOATED TO FAIL!" We used to have anti-trust laws. What happened to them? We need them now.
I walk around the house listening, and find myself saying, "Lying motherfucker!" or "You stupid shit!" And things like that. I listen carefully and then hear such utter crap out of Mr. Libby's or Liddy's mouth, I say, "You moron! How fucking stupid are you? Who appointed you?" "Which administration?
Did I say I opened the windows today? Oh yes, I could be working outside. I have neighbors who might be able to hear me. I'm going outside to trim mint.
Too late--the words about Geitner catch me and then as I reach for a cigarette on the dresser by the open window, I hear something and shout, "Off with your head Geitner!" There are young children playing in the back yard who can no doubt hear me. I back away from the TV and head outside with the mint trimmers.
In for water, Hardball is in full swing. And he's interviewing Chris Dodd, wo turns out to be the one person who signed off on the AIG Bonus bullshit. At the end of the interview I scream, "Ever hear of Quid Pro Quo you prick, Dodd??!!!? "Pay to Play ring a bell bucko????
Either I've shrugged off yesterdays disappointment or I'm taking it out on my neighbor's kids or the dog walkers in the alley. But all this work and screaming seems quite cathartic. And just might be useful for the kids. The dogs find it interesting and can always tell when I'm screaming at them or the TV. I never scream at them.

For the safety of the citizens, the only thing in this (or any other) country that should be allowed to become too big to fail, is the country itself.
The most obvious anti trust laws that failed the nation were the government oversight laws put in place following the 1929 Crash and Depression that were rescinded. We have been trusting the foxes to guard the national henhouse.
Who rescinded them?
well after AIG distributes the bonuses everything will be OK Utah, because they are paying to retain the best and brightest....
Ghost your sarcasm is not wasted on me.
Take a break! Obama is in California speaking right now and it is a pleasure to hear him!
Now: The crap never stops! Bush knew about the bonuses in 2008 and did not pass it on to Obama so screw them ass holes.
Obama knew about it for two weeks so should have said something immediately. It would have gained a lot of converts and avoided all this crap!
I want to say if our so called leaders really want to help the situation with AIG and the economy let it go! Let it sink! Chop it up into little pieces!
Let them compete with each other and not feast on us and our wallets. If they are the best and the brightest their little companies will flourish and they will grow once again.
That would be good for the economy. Superb actually! What do you think!
It makes me sick that the little guy always takes it in the chin!
The people and supposedly now Obama and Congress are up in arms. Right now Congress plans on taxing A.I.G's Bonuses at 90% To me they should be paying fines. Hari Kari suggested by Grassley would work too!
I thought it was just an echo...it must have been you I heard. We were mouthing the same at Mr. Liddy and the ensuing shows. Enough is enough already. Maybe we need to scream even louder.
Why doesn't the government declare AIG a disaster area, take it over and shoot the looters?
amen sister..amen..yeah, I was off today and got to watch the hearings...what a lying little fucker of a prick...I was so angry....and I still am....what the hell has happened ...and how many KNEW that this was going to happen- gifts for those that screwed us- are they kidding..?????
when did Geither know ? when did Dodd know ? and when did Obama find out ? I guess it does not matter- my question is why can't they question Paulson....
hang in there lady...sorry I have not been round much....
just scrounching trying to keep food on table etc....
you know how it is ....but sorry I have been so gone....
You down with AIG?
Yeah you know me!
Who's down with AIG?
Every last jerky!
Well if tax payers own AIG then I say let's set a salary cap (reduction) on the CEO/managers starting now with their new contracts & layoff a few managers for uh, under performance, and perhaps a bit of profit sharing to get some of those tax payer's money back (which I think is kinda sorta in the works). Yeah, it's overall highly disheartening. I'm all for more watchdogs though or it will happen all over again, which we don't need.
Who recinded it? Well I think it was the lone gunman or Mr. Teflon (Hey, nothing sticks to me!) But I'd guess Congress in general, and of course, you'd have to read between the lines as far as the finger pointing there goes. I'd heard Clinton did away with some of that regulation, but I'm sure both parties are equally to blame, tsk.
Hopefully Obama can staighten out some of this mess, there's still hope or maybe we can get those Watchmen super-hero guys to kick some ass and take names later... that disintegrator thing that Dr. Manhatten did would be so useful.
Did you see Shuster filling in for K.O. last night? I almost flipped when he asked when Bush and Cheney and Rumsfeld will be hauled before a criminal court for their misdeeds.
Sorry to change the subject in your comments. The AIG thing makes me feel ill. I can understand why you'd be screaming.
El Vox, We have St Ronnie to thank for deregulation, Clinton let it ride and Dubya loved and and finished off all regulation of the Big Boys, the financial institutions.
And Hi There James, Susan, Enigma, TheMom, and Randal
I think they all should fail. The demand for better institutions will always exist and I think American ingenuity will build a better system in its place.
