It Don't Mean A Thing If It Ain't Got That Swing

"Doo wah doo wah doo wah doo wah doo wah. Makes no difference if it's cool or hot." This song is featured in chapter 20 of the novel, Maggy. It's called "Dancing at the Club."

I used to love watching my parents put on old swing music and do that wild dancing. Of course, we hid the booze while they were flinging themselves about.

Ah yes, the 1940s Ray Nance feature. What a wonderful artist---and how he did test us jazz fans bringing the violin into Ellington!

But both Duke and Ray of course would tell us the song always belongs to Ivy Anderson. Is it possible her recording with Duke was in 1932? She was as modern as today!

However Utah, I think that lyric goes "It makes no difference if it's sweet or hot." Sweet, not cool. You remember cool. You probably invented it, in California, in the '50s.
