My Ideal

Yesterday I was shallow, today I'm good with that. I'm not holding it against myself. But I have been thinking a lot about the power of the imagination and all the things we think we want or need from another person especially if we have an agenda, like getting laid. But the secret life of the mind can be your worst enemy by giving you a certain type you find attractive. It could be a scent. It could be the shape of an ass. But there's something there and you can't deny it or ignore it. And if it's missing, you can't pretend or wish or want and make it so. Maybe it is just pheromones. Maybe it is that simple. Truth is when Tom and I were together I used to breathe in the scent of him in his just vacated pillow or hold a T-shirt he'd worn to my face and breath in his smell. I did once follow an old man down a San Francisco street for blocks because he smelled good. Is this shallow? Is this something hardwired? An early imprint that stays forever? What ever it is it's your ideal:

Oh, hell, Utah dear. Being deep all the time gets boring. I like all the Utahs, but shallow doesn't seem to fit my favorite contemporary writer. Any news?

Thanks for stopping by and saying "hi". What a nice suprise to see a new face on my blog comments. (I have a small following so fresh meat is always welcome...however less followers does mean less people to offend.)

Are you Mormon? I only ask because my sister and her family have been Mormons for 30+ years. I won't say anything negative... just in case you are. :) See how nice I am! (plus I'm catholic so I really can't talk..)

Anyhow, I should go. I enjoy what I read of your blog very much! I agree with the other comment that deep is boring.Give me shallow any day of the week. It's so great when people let loose and say what they are really thinking. I still haven't been able to really let go in my blog yet.

Have a great day.

I followed a beer truck once because it smelled good. Does that make me shallow? Oh yeah I forgot, I'm a guy. Nevermind.

I read a book once that talked about pheromones, and why we are attracted to certain people.
If you look at life through the lens of evolution, those smells are to attract us to someone who has the best 'genes' fit... No, no, not jeans fit, but genes.
This isn't a fail safe to inbreeding, but it helps. If someone has genes to much like our own, we may not find them attractive.
Of course that really takes the romance out of things, but I sure know what you're saying about the pillow and shirt...
I know it may sound corny, but if I'm upset or stressed, a hug and a good long breathing in of my husbands scent will calm me right down.

Nope, not shallow at all. there are certain scents that have lead me to some good places - and some maybe not so good. I say enjoy the moment.

Everyone has their ideal and whether we admit it not, save for you lucky few who've evolved beyond such mere humanity and now reside on a higher philosophical plane, and congratulations on that while I munch on my Funyons, the crumbs dribbling on bad verse, continue to search, eventually settling for a pretty decent facsimile or simply saying fuck it and spend the days fucking fellow yokels and complaining, which is also a noble pursuit.

Sounds pretty damned normal to me, Utah. Who knows why we desire what we desire. I could write a whole page about a certain type of woman who drives me mad with desire--in short, tomboyish girls with freckles, small breasts, and angular noses.

I once kissed a boy who tasted like he'd just eaten meatloaf. I never kissed him again. And I liked him!
